Biography

Chef Steven’s culinary skills are learnt from his practical cooking of French cuisine. As he believes that healthy eating and vegetarianism are the future diet trends, he has begun to comprehend vegetarian ingredients and design creative vegetarian dishes in recent years. Steven has also actively promoted the concept of healthy eating and vegetarianism in a carnivore’s perspective.

Plant-based meats are not used in the menus Steven designed. Since he believes that by using various cooking methods, ingredients from mother nature can also deliver different textures, tastes and flavors. The combination of cooking skills from contemporary Chinese cuisine and presentation of French cuisine allows him to deliver a new kind of experience to gourmets.

Terrific dinner experience with Chef Steven Ip. We are all surprised at how delicious vegetarian dishes can be.

Chef Steven again very much delighted our family with another wonderfully and thoughtfully prepared dinner. We enjoyed every single one of the dishes (Amuse Bouche, Beetroot, Skewer, Mushroom, Bell Pepper, Pumpkin and Tofu. We must highlight Pumpkin (the pumpkin raviolis filled with pumpkin seeds, orange, ginger, cheese and sage) and Tofu (the tofu desert made of peach, red bean paste and taro ball) - absolutely thoughtful and delicious. We look forward to inviting Chef Steven to delight us with another meal.

The first time we try vegetarian with MobiChef. I thought it would be light taste, but it turned out very good and surprisingly tasty, it was worth a try.

Each plate in the 6 Course Vegetarian Menu was perfectly delicious. Each course was thoughtfully and carefully plated up, beautiful, and perfectly seasoned. Steven was professional throughout. He was also very flexible and exchanged one of the dishes for us. I can strongly recommend him. We will definitely have him back.

Chef Steven recently prepared a wonderful dinner at our home. His 7-course chef signature vegetarian tasting menu was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire family, and every course was well enjoyed by both children and adults. Enjoyed with funny, heathy and curious questions about the ingredients and presentations The presentation/explanation of each course and the rhythm/pace of entire meal were wonderful. And the Chef's flexibility in adjusting ingredients to accommodate taste preferences - without expense of taste - was wonderful as well. We will be delighted to have Chef Steven come again and treat us with another great home restaurant meal.

是次請來Steven為我們準備星期六的晚膳,在晚膳前幾星期已安排好當晚的菜單。
Steven當日準時來到,晚膳有八道菜,細節不太在此詳談。不過今次是第一次試辦廚師上門服務,如果有開放式廚房的朋友,我覺得會有點優勢,可以在晚飯前或當中的時間,親眼體驗廚師為自己準備菜式的過程,可能會帶來不少的驚喜。
Steven主理素菜,八道菜運用不同的食材配搭出不同的中西fusion菜式,我比較欣賞當中的素鵝肝,利用不同的素菜材料加入不同的調味做出有如鵝肝質感的醬肉,加上半脆的多士及醒神的洛神花醬汁,既沒有真正鵝肝的油膩,又享受到鵝肝般的香滑。
雖然近年來素食盛行,但有心去研究素食fine dining的香港廚師暫時未見很多,Steven是少見之一。
小弟曾經有幸到過巴黎一間米芝蓮3星餐廳,當年該餐廳把肉食餐單全改成素食,那時一直有人討論,以素食為主的餐廳能保得住3星嗎?可想言之對於一般人來說素食fine dining做到有一定的驚喜而又保持水準,既可在約八道菜之中做出不同的菜式,又可在菜式之中帶出不同層次,豐富口感,事實來講不是易事。
而最後餐廳依然能保住3星,可見廚師功力過人。

所以,若素食者或有興趣嘗試fine dining素食菜式的朋友,不妨試試。

Chef Steven was amazing! We all really enjoyed the entire meal, the set up was amazing. The presentation was great, food was innovative and was perfectly seasoned. Dishes were well portioned out, it was just the right amount of food, not too much not too little. He did such a great job and totally exceed all of our expectation, it was a great dinner.
