After graduating from Chinese cuisine cooking school, Max started his career as chef at Fat Angelo's and then a pastry chef at Cova's Pastry Kitchen. With the meticulous skills he picked up in a these professional kitchens, Max then switched gears to work at an Asian fusion joint.

After a few years of honing his craft, Max landed a gig as head chef at Xi Yan, a renowned traditional Chinese restaurant opened by Celebrity Chef Jacky Yu, to get back to his roots. In 2010, he started as chef at GOLD, which soon earned a Michelin star, as well as the fancy European restaurant Penthouse. The rave reviews for Penthouse spoke for themselves, making it a huge hit even among Hong Kong's picky diners.

With over 20 years of experience in Chinese and Western cooking, Chef Max blends Western techniques into traditional Chinese dishes to create something new. He cares as much about how the food looks as how it tastes. For your private events, he'll make sure every little detail is on point.

Chef Max is very organised and he left my kitchen neat and clean after service. My guests are all impressed with his contemporary Chinese menu. The presentation looks good, highlighting the eggplants and crab meat jelly in starters.
